Kellogg to drop in on Hoppel’s Rodeo

By From Staff Reports 2 min read

WEST POINT -- Ben Kellogg of New Galilee, Pa., will be parachuting into Hoppel's Arena on Friday

before the rodeo performance.

Kellogg has 20 years of skydiving experience and has 5,396 jumps under his belt. Recently retired, Kellogg is planning a motorcycle trip along the Trans America Trail, covering 5,400 miles cross-country.

One of Kellogg's most memorable jumps was the Night Halo Jump, where he leapt from 30,000 feet

into the dark.

"The sight is incredible, being able to see for 500 to 600 miles," Kellogg said.

When asked about jumping into Hoppel's Arena from the Sky Dive Rick's plane, Kellogg explained,

"It's challenging and a little nerve-wracking. The arena is a small area in a valley, and I have to

come along the ridge of the mountain. The wind can create turbulence against the wall of the

mountain, which could throw off my landing. I might even land on one of those Brahma bulls in

the holding pen," Kellogg said.

Ben will make his landing at 6:45 p.m., carrying Old Glory and presenting our nation's flag to a

veteran in attendance. All veterans get in free on Friday night. Hoppel's Rodeo has honored

veterans with free admission since it began in 1985.

Gates open at 5 p.m. on Friday with the rodeo slated for 7 p.m.

Starting at /week.
