Minerva wins two
MINERVA -- Minerva's boys bowling team bested United, 1,988-1,688 on Wednesday at Minerva Bowl.
Owen Frazier led the Lions with a 239 high game and a 473 series.
For United, Josh Hawkins had a 266 high game and a 513 series. Luke Hull added a 367 series.
Minerva's girls team won 2,524-1,725.
Lillian Kugler led the Lions with a 243 high game and a 470 series.
For United, Hallee Burton had a 169 high game and a 303 series.
Salem falls to Carrollton
SALEM -- Salem's boys and girls bowling teams lost to Carrollton on Wednesday at Hunt Club Lanes.
The Warrior boys won 2,458-2,385. For Salem, Vinnie Yannuccci had a high game of 237 and a 436 series.
Carrollton's girls won 1,853-1,365. Kylie Smith had a 170 high game and a 339 series for Salem.
Salem plays United on Tuesday at Forrest Lanes.
Athlete with area connection on way to Mich. St.
LEETSDALE, Pa. -- Paige Juliano, a native of Poland, recently committed to Michigan State for rowing. Juliano is the daughter of Melinda Morrow, a former Washingtonville resident who attended Ursuline High School.
While at Quaker Valley High School near Pittsburgh, Juliano exceled in swimming where she won multiple WPIAL and PIAA medals.
Paige's father Rafael Juliano died of brain cancer in 2023 at the age of 44.
Salem X-Tra Mile Club to meet
