Salem beats United, falls to Heartland
SALEM — Host Salem, United and Heartland Christian all went 1-1 in a volleyball tri-match Saturday.
Heartland Christian defeated Salem, 25-12, 25-23.
Keagan Pruitt had six aces, five Kills and dive digs the Lions. Claire Liposky seven Kills and two aces and Makenna Wilson four aces and seven digs.
United beat Heartland, 25-20, 25-18, as Karleigh Kooser had three kills and Brylee Smith made 13 digs. For Heartland, Emily McDowell had three aces and eight digs, Keagan Pruitt eight kills and six digs, and Claire Liposky two aces, seven kills and seven digs.
Salem outlasted United, 25-23, 14-25, 25-22. For United, Rileah Phillips totaled eight aces, six kills and 13 assists.
United is 4-2, Heartland 3-2 and Salem 1-3.
United won two junior varsity matches — against Salem, 25-11, 25-21 as Ellie Kiko served four aces and Brennan Ritchie mad two blocks, and against Heartland, 25-14, 25-18, as Scarlett Courtney served six aces and Lily Erb had seven kills.
Columbiana 2, Springfield 0
NEW MIDDLETOWN — Columbiana improved to 4-0 overall by sweeping Springfield, 25-18, 25-21, 25-18, Saturday.
Evy Rapp led the Clippers with 13 points, three aces, five kills and six digs. Eva Wallercollected nine points, four aces, 22 assitst and three digs; Landry Smith eight points, three aces, seven kills and two blocks; Addison Danglerseven ills and two blocks; and Layla McCarthy two kills and 21 digs.
Columbiana also won the junior varsity match, 21-25, 29-27, 25-21. Sylvia Rapp had 10 points , four aces and eight digs for the Clippers. Riley Fisk had seven points, six kills and four digs; Ava Marks six points, four aces, six kills and 13 dig; and Ella Eisenbraun six points, two aces, four kills, 12 assists and eight digs.
Columbiana will host Valley Christian on Tuesday.
West Branch splits
BELOIT — West Branch won one and lost one during Saturday’s tri-match.
West Branch topped Howland, 25-21, 12-25, 25-20.
Madi Hoopes led the Warriors with nine kills, two blocks and seven digs. Audrey Ring collected nine points, five kills, six blocks and three digs; Kendelle eight points, five kills, 15 assists and 10 digs; and Kendyll Kaley five points, four kills, five blocks and nine digs.
West Branch losto to Jefferson Area, 25-18, 25-19. Madi Hoopes had seven kills and two blocks and Abigail Janosik had seven kills and one block. Audrey Ring added six blocks, two kills and four digs and Cailyn Fritz had five blocks and two digs.
Howland defeated Jefferson Area in two games.
West Branch will open Eastern Buckeye Conference play at Minerva on Tuesday.

Salem at South Range
7th Grade: Salem won 25-11, 25-16 Saturday. Salem, Harper Fadden 5 aces, 7 kills and 1 block, Jessica Johnson 5 aces and 1 kill, Chloe Burns 3 aces and 3 digs, Madison Marx assists.
8th Grade: Salem won 25-18, 25-11. Salem, Reagan Zacharias 5 aces and 4 kills, Avary Williams 4 aces, Ila Lee 5 kills.
