Suburban League off and running
EAST PALESTINE — East Liverpool senior Maddox Roach and Beaver Local senior Hannah Ruberto are out to fast starts in the cross country season.
Both won their races in a Suburban League opener at East Palestine City Park on Tuesday.
Roach won the boys race in 17 minutes flat on the 3.1-mile course.
Ruberto, coming off her championship in the Clipper Cross Country Series, won the girls race in 22:04.
Beaver Local finished second behind the Canfield boys and Howland girls.
The Suburban League continues next Tuesday at Poland, Girard and Newton Falls.

MCDONALD — Crestview’s girls cross country runners took part in Suburban League action Tuesday at Woodland Park,
For the Rebels, Kaley Blakeman (24:22) was 10th and Katie MacKay (24:27) was 11th.
McDonald’s Naomi Sheesley was first in 20:11.
Lowellville’s Nathan Yon won the boys’ race in 17:22.
McDonald’s Mia Stonestreet won the junior high girls race in 13:59.
Lowellville’s Jesse Coich was the boys junior high winner in 12:20.
