SALEM — Maddy Andres and Karlie Sampson scored goals in the first half as Salem blanked Rootstown, 2-0, in girls soccer action Monday.
Paige Menough made three saves in goal for the shutout. Salem’s defense was keyed by Sarah Sinsley, Addison Hopple, Lewis, Gabby Coletta, Delaney Callahan and Madi Helmick.
The Quakers (7-2-2) will host Carrollton for senior night at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Salem 5, East Palestine 0
EAST PALESTINE — The Salem girls loved their first trip to the new tennis courts at East Palestine City Park. The Quakers dropped only three games on the way to a 5-0 win over East Palestine on Thursday.
Salem will host West Branch at 4 p.m. today at Waterworth Memorial Park.

SALEM — Trenton Hall shot a 38 in leading Columbiana past Salem, 173-175, in boys golf action Monday at Salem Hills. Also for the Clippers (14-4), David Master had 41, Luke Struharik 46 and Nick Klindworth 48.
For Salem, Eli James had a 41, Gabe Leek 42, Tanner James 46 and Caden Arcuri 46.
Salem (8-10) will compete in the Eastern Buckeye Conference Tournament at 8 a.m. Wednesday at Pleasant View Golf Course.
Terlesky Invitational
POLAND — The Ravenna Southeast and Columbiana girls golf teams took the top two spots at the Terlesky Invitational on Monday.
Southeast, coming off its first state berth last season, remained unbeaten by shooting a 362 at the Lake Club, six strokes better than Columbiana.
Columbiana senior Hannah Moffett finished fourth in the 39-golfer field with an 89. Also for the Clippers, Maddie Jackson had a 90, Alyssa Kakavros 93, Claire Banner 96 and Nia Missos 102.
West Branch finished seventh with a 436. For the Warriors, Isabella Linger shot a 99, Emma McLaughlin 109, Erin Albert 113, Katelyn Schenk 115 and Brylee Moore 128.
Lakeview’s Olivia Norris, the Northeast 8 Conference champion took medalist honors by three strokes with an 18-hole round of 82.
Columbiana will play in the OVAC Tournament on Wednesday at Oglebay’s Crispin Course.

Canfield hosts Suburban League
CANFIELD — The Suburban League Cross Country Championships will be held today at the Canfield Fairgrounds.
Forty-nine schools are members of the league, including Beaver Local, Columbiana, Crestview, East Liverpool, East Liverpool Christian, East Palestine, Heartland Christian, Leetonia, Lisbon, Sebring, Southern Local, Springfield, United and Western Reserve.
The varsity girls race will start at 4:45 p.m., followed by the varsity boys at 5:20 p.m., middle school girls at 5:50 p.m. and middle school boys at 6:10 p.m.
Cars can enter at Gate 9 off Route 46. There will be a $5 cash charge per car.
