Devils jump on Tigers

LISBON — Lisbon swept its way to a three-set victory Thursday, defeating Wellsville 25-17, 25-18, 25-18 in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play.

Maddie Marshalek led the Blue Devils with 11 kills. Addison Anderson added seven kills and five digs, while Brooklynn Klein chipped in three kills, two aces and a block. Hannah Davis finished with nine digs, Abby Ammon had five digs, six points and two aces, and Kylyn Boyd recorded five digs. Setter Stefanee Stacey had a standout night with 21 assists, seven kills, 18 points and three aces.

Wellsville scored the opening point for its only lead of the first game. Leading 9-7, Lisbon began to take control with conecutive service winners by Brooklyn Klein and tip for a point by Stacey. Alayna Householder and Addison Anderson had back-to-back kills to give the Blue Devils a 19-14 lead. Wellsville got no closer than three points in the first game.

Lisbon is 9-8 and 7-5 in the EOAC. Wellsville is 4-13 and 3-9 in the conference.

Both teams play Monday with Lisbon at Toronto on Monday and Wellsville at East Liverpool.

Columbiana 3, Leetonia 0

COLUMBIANA — Columbiana’s volleyball team won at least a share of its third straight Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference title with a 25-4, 25-11, 25-9 win over Leetonia on Thursday.

Columbiana is 15-1 and 12-0 in the league.

For the Clippers, Evy Rapp had five kills, five aces, 17 points and four digs. Landry Smith had 14 kills, four aces and 10 points. Eva Waller had eight aces, 14 assists and 16 points. Addison Dangler had five kills, three aces and nine points. Audrey Barborak had two kills and two digs. Jaslin Kaur added three aces and seven points.

Columbiana’s jayvees won 25-6, 25-12. Ava Marks had 10 points and nine aces for the winners. Barborak had 10 points and six aces.

Columbiana hosts Cardinal Mooney Monday.

Salem 3, West Branch 1

BELOIT — Salem’s volleyball team scored a 18-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-23 upset over West Branch on Thursday in an Eastern Buckeye Conference affair.

Salem is 5-11 and 3-7 in the EBC. The Quakers had lost four straight coming into the match. Salem hosts Field on Saturday.

West Branch fell to 11-8 and 7-3 in the league. West Branch is at Canfield on Saturday.

United 3, East Palestine 1

EAST PALESTINE — United picked up a four-set victory on the road Thursday, defeating East Palestine 25-15, 23-25, 25-21, 25-19.

United improves to 13-4 overall and 9-2 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.

Baylee Smith and Maelee Smith each had 16 kills for the Eagles. Baylee Smith added 25 digs and Marin Stryffeler had seven kills and nine digs.

For the Bulldogs (7-8, 6-5 in the EAOC), Cami Kridler had 20 assists, 15 digs and nine points. Destiney Burtyk added 13 kills, 10 digs and four points, while Amara Wilson tallied 10 kills, 25 digs, nine points and three aces. Kennedy Andre finished with 10 assists, 13 digs, eight points and four aces. Marley Blythe chipped in five kills, 15 digs, six points and three aces.

In junior varsity action, United won 25-16, 25-12, with Lily Erb getting 13 points and five aces, Kenley Landgraver four points and two aces and Brennan Ritchie five kills and two blocks.

For East Palestine, Violet Glavan had four kills and four points, while Marley Haldiman added four points and two aces.

East Palestine hosts Valley Christian on Monday. United is at Lisbon on Tuesday.

Heartland 3,

Youngstown East 0

YOUNGSTOWN –Heartland Christian swept Youngstown East 25-16, 25-13, 25-16 on Thursday.

Claire Liposky led the Lions (11-7) with 16 kills and eight digs. Makenna Wilson handed out 18 assists and added eight digs. Maddie Neville had seven kills, seven digs and a block, while Keagan Pruitt tallied seven kills, seven digs and two aces. Capri Drokin chipped in three kills and three blocks.
