Quakers duke it out with Marlington

SALEM — Marlington remained perfect in the Eastern Buckeye Conference with a 25-9, 25-15, 25-19 win over Salem on Thursday.

The Dukes improve to 5-2 overall and 4-0 in the EBC, while the Quakers drop to 3-6 and 1-3 in league play.

Olivia Lewis paced the Quakers with 16 assists.

Salem will host West Branch on Tuesday.

Crestview 3, Champion 0

WARREN — The Crestview Rebels are off to a perfect start.

The Rebels improved to 9-0 overall and 7-0 in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Gray Tier after beating Champion, 25-13, 25-4, 24-8, Thursday.

Lainy Auer led the charge with 21 kills, one block and eight digs. Sophia Stewart had three aces and 36 assists, Sophia Dattilio and Sophia Noling each had six kills, Bella Ciapala five kills, Val Boyd four aces and Kerrigan Miller three aces and 16 digs.

The Rebels, who have lost two games in nine matches will host Garrettsville Garfield on Tuesday.

Crestview also won the junior varsity match, 25-13, 25-22. Madeline English had four aces and five digs and Lainey Milhoan three aces and four kills for the Rebels.

Heartland 3, Mooney 0

YOUNGSTOWN — Heartland Christian rolled over Youngstown Mooney, 25-14, 25-15, 25-19, Thursday.

The Lions, who improve to 7-3, were led by Keagan Pruitt with nine kills and 15 digs and Claire Liposky with nine kills, nine digs and one block.

Maddie Neville contributed seven kills, four blocks and three aces; Makenna Wilson 15 assists, three aces and seven digs; Emily McDowell 13 assists, three aces and 10 digs; and Kailey Haugen had 13 digs

Mooney, coming off a 3-0 win over East Palestine on Wednesday, drops to 3-6.

United 3, Lisbon 1

LISBON — United had to earn every point Thursday.

The Eagles held off Lisbon for a 25-16, 21-25, 25-18, 25-23 win in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play.

United improves to 7-3 overall and 5-1 in the EOAC, one game behind unbeaten Columbiana.

Rileah Phillips totaled 11 points and three aces, Kendall Erb eight kills, 10 points and five aces and Maelee Smith 10 kills to guide the Eagles.

For the Blue Devils, Alayna Householder 16 points, eight kills and eight digs; Maddie Marshalek 14 kills and 14 digs; Stefanee Stacey eight kills, 32 assists and 16 digs; Abby Ammon 22 digs; Addison Anderson 17 digs; Hannah Davis 15 digs and defensive leader Gionna Lenigar had three solo blocks and two assisted with six kills.

Lisbon drops to 3-5 and 2-4 in league play.

The Eagles also won the junior varsity match, 25-15, 25-9. Callie Coons had eight pointsa nd three aces and Brennan seven points and two aces for the Eagles. Brooklynn Klein, Delaney Pickens and Olivia Smith each had two kills for the Blue Devils. Aria Reckner and Gracyn Owens both had four assists and Lynn Boyd, Lexi Roush and Johanna Ford had four digs apiece.

Both teams return to league play Tuesday as United hosts Valley Christian and Lisbon entertains East Palestine.

Southern 3, Leetonia 0

SALINEVILLE — The Kellogg sisters combined for 37 points in leading Southern past Leetonia, 25-10, 25-3, 25-6, in Eastern Ohio Athetic Conference play Thursday.

Haylee Kellogg totaled 23 points, seven aces, 14 assists and two kills and Katie Kellogg had 14 points, five aces and four kills.

Natalia Lopez collected 13 points and two kills, Allyssa Shroades eight assists and eight kills, Kalayah Crutte three kills, Kiah Sloan two kills, Addy Martin and Brooke Boyle four digs apiece and Maddy Tsesmilles three digs.

Southern (4-4) will host Jefferson County Christian for a varsity-only contest at 6 p.m. Monday.

Southern also won the junior varsity match, 25-8, 25-7, as Jocy Richards served 13 points and Khloe Ensinger added six points.
