CANTON -- Salem's football team rolled into Canton Central Catholic and came out with a 49-20 victory over the Crusaders on Friday.
It was Salem's first victory over Canton Central in five tries dating back to 1969.
The Quakers are 2-2 and will host Beaver Local on Friday.
Tylor Steves scored the Quakers first touchdown, then Cletis Monroy recovered a fumble at the Crusader 14 and turned that into a passing touchdown to make it 14-0.
The Crusaders got one back on a 58-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown to cut the Quaker lead to 14-7.
The Quakers righted the ship with a 26-yard rushing touchdown near the end of the first quarter to push the advantage to 21-7.
A Hunter Marcum fumble recovery set up the Quakers next 1-yard yard touchdown near the start of the second quarter.
A Patrick Sciarretti 29-yard touchdown reception put Canton Central at 28-14 with eight minutes to go in the first half.
With five minutes to go in the first half, Salem added a 1-yard touchdown run to push its advantage to 35-14.
With two minutes to go in the third quarter Salem struck again with a 16-yard passing strike to make it 42-14.
Salem's final score of the night was a 50-yard kick-off return with a minute left in the game.
West Branch 27, Chaney 6
YOUNGSTOWN -- Grady Hirst rushed 19 times for 113 yards and three touchdowns, while throwing for 191 yards more in West Branch's 27-6 win over Youngstown Chaney on Friday at Rayen Stadium. Hirst also had an interception on defense.
Jeremiah Thomas caught nine balls for 76 yards, while Gavin Gregory hauled in four catches for 73 yards.
Clayton Day and Thomas had 46 rushing yards each.
Day added a fumble recovery.
West Branch outgained the Cowboys 421 yards to 136.
The Warriors are 3-1 and host Howland next Friday.
Chaney is 1-3.

Liberty 21
LIBERTY -- Jake Noling threw two touchdowns in the fourth quarter as Crestview squeaked out a 28-21 victory on Friday.
Crestview is 4-0 and hosts Southeast next Friday. Liberty fell to 3-1 and had only given up seven points in the first three games.
Noling hit Caidyn McElhaney on a 34-yard touchdown pass with 3:56 left in the game to tie the contest at 21.
The Rebels then recovered the kickoff at the Liberty 46.
A Kyle Booth 21-yard pass from Noling with 1:23 left put the Rebels in front for good.
Noling was 9 of 14 for 113 yards on the night. He also rushed for 76 yards.
Mikey Proctor had 117 yards on 18 carries.
McElhaney caught three balls for 56 yards. Booth had two catches for 39 yards.

Valley 41, Leetonia 14
LEETONIA -- The numbers are not adding up for the Leetonia Bears football team.
The Bears started Friday's game with 17 players and ended with 12 in a 41-14 loss to Valley Christian in an Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference opener.
Both teams are 2-2.
Leetonia senior Ethan Mathia accounted for all of Leetonia's points in his first start at quarterback. He ran for 135 yards on 26 carries and was 4-of-8 passing for 61 yards.
He scrambled 7 yards for the first score on fourth-and-goal in the second quarter.
Then Mathia found Brayden Gainey on a 45-yard touchdown pass with 5:05 left in the game. The two also connected on the two-point conversion.
Gainey had all four receptions for the Bears.
If the Bears are able, they will play at Columbiana on Friday. Valley hosts Wellsville next Saturday.
