Louisville ends season for Salem boys

SALEM — Sophomore Maddox Mayle scored the last two goals to help 19th-seeded Louisville finish off 18th-seeded Salem in a Division III boys soccer sectional match Wednesday at Sebo Stadium.

Carter Burton also scored off an assist from Raiden Lindner. Burton and Maddox Rodriguez assisted on Mayle’s goals.

Salem wraps up the season at 11-4-3 after a 6-0-2 start.

Louisville improves to 8-7-2, including a 5-1-1 mark over the last seven matches.

The Leopards — who have scored 29 goals this season — advance to the district semifinals at ninth-seeded Marlington at 7 p.m. Oct. 23.

Marlington beat 48th-seeded Ravenna, 10-0, Wednesday.

Louisville and Marlington played to a 0-0 tie on Sept. 13.

Crestview 4, Clearview 0

COLUMBIANA — The Crestview Rebels boys soccer team is gaining strength.

The Rebels won for the 14th time in 15 matches with a 4-0 decision over 24th-seeded Lorain Clearview in Division IV sectional play Wednesday.

Freshman Danny Novak had three goals to lead the Rebels. Carson Barber also had a goal, while Alex Beveridge had an assist.

The 16th-seeded Rebels improve to 15-3 and has held opponents to 18 goals, including nine shutouts.

Crestview advances to district play on Oct. 23 against the winner of Saturday’s match between fourth-seeded Mentor Lake Catholic and 11th-seeded Cleveland Lincoln West

The Clippers finish the season at 6-12, scoring three goals in a season-ending seven-match losing streak.

United 7, Rittman 0

HANOVERTON — Kylie Holmes scored four goals in leading 13th-seeded United past 39th-seeded Rittman, 7-0, in Division V girls soccer sectional play Wednesday.

Elli Powers collected two goals and one assist and McKenzie Cope added another goal. Kiley Hetherington had two assist. Addy Wright and Bella Thompson each had one assist.

The Eagles posted their fifth shutout of the season to improve to 9-7-2.

United advances to the district semifinal against 12th-seeded Willoughby Cornerstone Christian at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Christian Life Church in Mentor.

Cornerstone beat 26th-seeded Smithville, 5-0, Wednesday.

Rittman scored 16 goals this season and finishes at 1-12-3. The lone victory was a 6-0 decision over winless Wellington on Sept. 11.

Bristol 5, Crestview 0

BRISTOLVILLE — The Bristol girls soccer team is continuing its unbeaten season.

The fourth-seeded Panthers blanked 27th-seeded Crestview, 5-0, in Division V sectional play Wednesday.

Bristol jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first half.

The Panthers are 17-0-1 on the season, outscoring their opponents a combined 101-18. The only blemish has been a 1-1 tie at Columbiana on Sept. 13. They have nine straight wins since then, allowing only seven goals.

Jenna Perris and Deserae Raymond had two goals each for the Panthers. Lauren Church had a goal as well.

Bristol will host a district semifinal at 7 p.m. next Wednesday.

Crestview finishes the season at 3-12-3. The Rebels scored 27 goals all season and were shut out in eight of the losses.
