Rebels cruise to sizable win over Boardman

COLUMBIANA –Crestview senior Addison Rhodes is doing what she has done her first three basketball seasons.

Rhodes scored a game-high 33 points to go along with eight rebounds, eight steals and seven assists in the Rebels’ season-opening 79-45 win over Boardman on Monday.

The Rebels led 19-8 in the first quarter and 44-18 at halftime behind 18 points from Rhodes.

Brianna Baker added 11 points and four assists and Ava Bucey scored 11 points. Karli Perry added nine points, Katie MacKay had six rebounds and three assists and Kerrigan Miller contributed three assists.

Boardman drops to 0-2.

Crestview also won the two-quarter junior varsity game, 17-12, as Lainey Milhoan scored six points.

The Rebels will host Maplewood on Monday.

TORONTO — Freshman point guard Katie Kellogg and the Southern Local Indians are off to an impressive start.

Kellogg had a hand in 50 points in leading the Indians past Toronto, 82-22, Monday.

Kellogg totaled 36 points, 11 steals, seven assists and six rebounds as the Indians improved to 2-0.

The Indians led 25-3 in the first quarter and 51-8 by halftime.

Allyssa Shroades added 13 points, four assists and three steals and Kalayah Crute had nine points, eight rebounds and two steals. Hailey Maines contributed four rebounds, three assists and two steals and Sarah Hawk converted a four-point play.

Toronto drops to 0-2.

There was no junior varsity game.

Southern will play at Frontier at 1 p.m. Saturday.

GIRARD — Columbiana’s girls basketball team had a lead on Girard in the first quarter but only managed six points the rest of the game in a 47-15 loss on Monday.

Columbiana (0-1) will be at Beaver Local on Wednesday.

Girard (1-0) is at LaBrae on Dec. 1.

Lisbon 52, Windham 34

LISBON — Lisbon’s girls basketball team turned in a 52-34 win over Windham on Monday.

Lylah Brown and Jayden Smyth had 14 points each for the Devils. Bridgett Newbold added 10 points.

The Blue Devils (1-0) will be at Bridgeport on Wednesday for a 2 p.m. game.

Windham hosts Campbell on Dec. 1.

COLUMBIANA — Heartland Christian’s girls basketball team dropped its opener 31-21 to Valley Christian on Monday.

Valley led 13-9 at the half.

Heartland is 0-1 and will be at East Canton on Dec. 1.

Valley opens Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play on Dec. 1 at Lisbon.
