Crestview in control in the MVAC Gray
COLUMBIANA — The Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Gray Tier has the Crestview girls and then everyone else.
The Rebels continued on their quest of a fourth straight league title by bounding LaBrae, 62-22, in a battle of unbeatens Monday.
Crestview improves to 9-0 overall and 6-0 in the MVAC. LaBrae drops to 9-1 and 4-1 in league play.
Addison Rhodes scored a game-high 28 points, nine coming in a 19-1 second-quarter run that gave the Rebels a commanding 32-6 halftime lead.
Karli Perry tied a personal-high with 17 points and Ava Bucey added nine points.
Crestview also won the junior varsity game, 35-5. Katie MacKay led the Rebels with 14 points. Piper Harvey added nine points.
The Rebels will play defending Division IV state runner-up Shaker Heights Laurel in the South Range Holiday Hoops Showcase at 4 p.m. today.
Laurel beat Crestview, 58-32, in a 2023 Division III district final.

SALEM — Salem will roll into the new year on a positive note after a 48-36 win over Poland on Monday.
The Quakers are 7-3 and are off to their best start since to 2022-2023 season.Abby Knickerbocker led the Quakers with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Maddy Andres added eight points and 10 rebounds. Karlie Sampson chipped in six points and six assists.
Shae Burkhart had eight points in Salem’s 26-25 jayvee win.
Salem will host Woodridge on Saturday.

TORONTO — East Palestine’s girls basketball team bounced Toronto 46-38 on Monday.
East Palestine is 5-6 and will be at Leetonia on Jan. 5.
Toronto fell to 4-7.
Jacklyn Ogle paced the Bulldogs with 19 points, nine rebounds and five steals. Destiney Burtyk added 14 points and nine rebounds.

HANOVERTON — Minerva’s girls basketball team earned its second win of the season by stopping United 39-34 on Monday.
Emma Catlett and Rachel Benedict had 10 points each for the Lions, 2-8.
United was led by Maelee Good’s 13 points.
United is 6-5 and will host Beaver Local on Saturday.
