Lisbon shocks Clippers

COLUMBIANA — The Ramgeet brothers combined for 46 points in leading Lisbon past previously-unbeaten Columbiana, 68-55, in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play Tuesday.

Sophomore Aidan Ramgeet totaled a career-high 26 points and senior AJ Ramgeet added 20 points and 10 assists for the Blue Devils, who improved to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in the EOAC.

Blaine Barnes added 11 points, six rebounds and six assists. Logan Sturgeon had nine points, including a key basket late in the fourth quarter, and eight rebounds. Ashton Hinchliffe grabbed eight rebounds.

Columbiana dropped to 7-1 and 4-1 in the EOAC. Valley Christian leads the league with a 5-0 record.

Lisbon led 58-53 and held Columbiana to two points in the final 3 1/2 minutes to pull away.

Aidan Ramgeet had a driving layup with 2:20 remaining and was 6-for-6 from the foul line in the final 75 seconds to secure the victory.

Lisbon led by nine points in the first and second quarters, but Columbiana came back and tied the score at 41-41 and 43-43 late in the third quarter.

Cooper Brown topped the Clippers with 18 points. Hunter Davanzo contributed 16 points and Senator Johnson nine.

Columbiana will play at Lakeview on Dec. 30, while Lisbon travels to Heartland Christian on Jan. 3.

United 62, Leetonia 21

LEETONIA — Ten United players hit baskets as the Eagles pulled away from Leetonia for a 62-21 win Tuesday.

The Eagles improve to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference, two games behind league-leading Valley Christian.

Abram Ceresna and Lance Rycraft both scored 11 points to lead United. Matthew Hoopes, Kadin Schonauer and Wyatt Blevins added eight points apiece.

Leetonia drops to 2-6 and 1-4 in the EOAC.

Ethan Mathia had nine points and Aiden Hunter seven for the Bears.

United also won the junior varsity game, 23-6, as Carter Cope and Levi Lucas each scored six points.

Leetonia will play at Crestview on Saturday, while United travels to Southern on Jan. 6.

Valley 62, East Palestine 40

EAST PALESTINE — Valley Christian is in sole possession of the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference lead after a 62-40 win over East Palestine on Tuesday.

The Eagles improve to 5-1 overall and 5-0 in the EOAC, one game ahead of Columbiana and Lisbon and two ahead of United and Wellsville.

Valley held East Palestine to 25 points through three quarters for a 40-25 lead.

Jordan Tutwiler scored 13 of his game-high 21 points in the first half to lead Valley. Deion Miller added 15 points and King Swiggett 12.

East Palestine drops to 0-6 and 0-5 in the EOAC.

Drew Bycroft topped the Bulldogs with 15 points, three rebounds and three assists. RJ May had eight points and three rebounds, Peyton Rutledge seven points and four rebounds and Clark Rutledge seven points and three rebounds.

East Palestine won the junior varsity game, 46-33. Caleb Dmyterko led the Bulldogs with 17 points. Mason Gorby added seven points

East Palestine will host Springfield on Saturday, while Valley plays at Youngstown Mooney on Jan. 3.
