Warriors win
BEACHWOOD — The West Branch wrestling team topped the Beachwood Ron Meade Invitational Tournament on Saturday.
The Warriors were first out of 19 teams with five individual champions.
Tournament winners for West Branch were Carter Day (113 pounds), Beau Nezbeth (150), Justin Marra (175), Jackson Shinn (190) and Gavin Hang (215).
Hang recorded his 100th career victory.
Other West Branch placers were Jackson McDonald (106) in second, Kase Stryffeler (120) in third, and Mahlon Fritz (126) and Case Sanor (132) in fourth.
Eagles 2nd at Malvern
MALVERN — Southern’s Rowan Wiley was the only area individual champion and the United boys wrestling team finished second at the Malvern Hornet Holiday Tournament on Saturday.
Wiley, a state qualifier last season, topped the 165-pound weight class.
United scored 120 points, trailing Western Reserve with 128 1/2.
