Ursuline handles Quakers

SALEM — Maizy Green had 20 points to help Ursuline push past Salem 53-35 on Saturday.

Ryann Vross paced the Quakers (10-6) with 11 points. Karlie Sampson added eight points.

Salem leading scorer Abby Knickerbocker missed her third straight game.

Ursuline is 5-8.

Salem will be at Carrollton on Wednesday.

EAST PALESTINE — East Palestine’s girls basketball team raced past Alliance 34-22 on Saturday.

East Palestine is 9-8 and will be at Springfield today.

Alliance is 4-11.

Jacklyn Ogle posted 14 points, four assists and four steals for the winners. Destiney Burtyk added nine points and nine rebounds. Amara Wilon had seven rebounds.

COLUMBIANA — Lake Center Christian’s girls basketball team posted a 60-42 win over Heartland Christian on Saturday.

Sarah Reynolds led the Lions with 22 points. Kaylin Norbo added six points, while Gabriella McDowell had five points.

Heartland is 6-8 and will be at Valley Christian on Monday.

Magnificat 30, West Branch 21

BERLIN — The Magnificat Blue Streaks handed West Branch’s girls basketball team its second loss of the season with a 30-21 victory on Saturday at the Classic in the Country.

West Branch, a Div. IV school, is 13-2, Magnificat, a Div. II school, improved to 10-5.

The Warriors will host Alliance on Wednesday and Carrollton on Saturday. The game with Carrollton should decide the Eastern Buckeye Conference title.

BOYS

Lowellville 72, East Palestine 44

EAST PALESTINE — Lowellville’s boys basketball team secured a 72-44 win over East Palestine on Saturday.

For East Palestine, R.J. May had 19 points, three rebounds and three assists. Drew Bycroft added 13 points and eight rebounds. Clark Rutledge added seven points, four rebounds and four assists. Brad Bartels chipped in nine rebounds.

Lowellville won the jayvee game, 44-39.

Caleb Dmyterko had 13 points for the Bulldogs.

East Palestine (1-11) will be at Rootstown on Tuesday.

Lowellville is 7-6.
