Nastari, Plant race in Virginia
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia — The top two half-milers in Ohio high school history met up at the Virginia Challenge on Friday night.
The two former state champions — Penn State junior Kaleb Nastari from United and Virginia Tech senior Nick Plant from Canfield — raced to high finishes at the Virginia Challenge.
Plant was sixth out of 42 runners in a time of 1:46.54, while Nastari was 13th in 1:47.32.
Georgetown junior Tinoda Matsatsa won in 1:45.12. He is a sub 4-minute miler.
The next three runners were from Penn State. Niko Schultz was second with the third-fastest time in program history (1:45.24), holding off Allon Clay by 0.002 seconds. Yukichi Ishii was fourth in 1:46.21.
Penn State will compete in the 130th Penn Relays this weekend.
