Golden Eagles tame Quakers under the lights
SALEM — Nick Lutes had two doubles and three RBIs as United downed Salem 5-3 under the lights on Friday.
Wyatt Swanson added two singles, a double and an RBI. Jason Pratt had two hits.
Kadin Schonauer was the winning pitcher with five strikeouts and five walks in seven innings.
For Salem, Brady Hendricks had two doubles and a single. Bairon Exline had a single and triple. Braydon Van Dyne took the loss with eight strikeouts and four walks in six innings.
United (10-4) is at Lisbon on Saturday afternoon for a key Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference contest.
Salem is 1-13 and will host Marlington on Tuesday.

EAST PALESTINE — Oak Glen’s Noah Willey limited East Palestine to one hit in a 3-0 Golden Bear win on Friday.
Willey tallied 11 strikeouts and two walks in the complete game effort.
Gannon Cline had two hits and an RBI for the winners. James Rohbeck and Willey had doubles.
Mason Gorby took the loss with a walk and three strikeouts in six innings.
East Palestine (5-7) is at Girard on Tuesday, but is working on scheduling a game on Monday.
Oak Glen (8-12) is at Brooke on Monday.

BELOIT — Struthers rallied for four runs in the last two innings to upend West Branch 8-7 on Friday.
Grayden Grimm had two singles, a double and two RBIs for the Warriors. Carson Wike and Justin Dickey had two hits and an RBI each.
Grimm was the losing pitcher as he had one strikeout and no walks in 1 2/3 innings.
West Branch (5-8) hosts South Range today.
