Quakers score EBC win

SALEM — After five of the first six Salem batters got out, the Quakers scored runs in five straight innings to beat Alliance, 10-4, Friday at Southeast School.
Hadley Carlisle went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs and Morgane Blaine doubled twice and scored two runs for the Quakers.
Kassidy Swanson contributed two hits and two RBIs, while Aniya Jones, Shea Burkhart and Emilee Lewis each had two hits. Olivia Lewis scored two runs.
Lacie Gainor’s two-run single to right field gave the Quakers a 2-0 lead in the second inning.
Salem improves to 2-4 and 1-2 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference heading into Tuesday’s game at West Branch. Alliance, coming off wins over United and Minerva the previous two days, drops to 4-7 and 2-2 in the EBC.
Blaine went the distance for the victory. She gave up three earned runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts and three walks
Alliance took a 3-2 lead in the top of the third inning. The Aviators scored two runs on Lilly White’s drive to the right field fence and Kendyl Brown followed with a single off the shortstop’s glove.
Alliance’s Peyton Graham took the loss, allowing seven earned runs on nine hits in three innings. She struck out three and walked one.

Springfield 10, Leetonia 0
NEW MIDDLETOWN — Springfield’s Makenna Wymer threw a no-hitter with six walks and 12 strikeouts as the Tigers knocked off Leetonia 10-0 on Friday.
On Thursday Wymer also had a no-hitter in a 13-0 win over Leetonia.
Kensley Schrode led the Tigers at the plate with two doubles, a single and two RBIs.
Laniya Dubose took the loss with three walks and no strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings.
Leetonia is 0-12 and is at East Palestine on Monday.

Girard 5, Columbiana 1
GIRARD — Girard allowed 10 hits but kept Columbiana to singles in a 5-1 win on Friday.
Reagan Bell, Ella Eisenbraun and Natalie Barrow each had two hits for the Clippers.
Eisenbraun took the loss with a walk and two strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.

West Branch 9, Hoover 4
NORTH CANTON — Camryn Wike had two hits and three RBIs to help West Branch beat North Canton Hoover 9-4 on Friday.
Layla Carreon, Zoey Carreon and Zoe Metzgar each had two hits. Ellie Tucker had a triple and an RBI.
Tucker was also the winning pitcher with six strikeouts and seven walks.
West Branch (4-5) hosts Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary today.
