NORTON — Norton scored six runs over the course of the first two innings and rode pitcher Caeden DeDomenic to a 6-2 win over West Branch in a Div. IV district semifinal.

West Branch got one run in the first off a Grady Close RBI sacrifice fly and the second off of a passed ball in which Gavyn Webb scored in the sixth.

The Warriors totaled five hits, all singles.

Jeremiah Thomas took the loss as he lasted 2/3 of an inning with four walks and a strikeout.

No. 19 seeded West Branch ends its campaign at 11-14.

No. 3 seeded Norton (19-6) will meet No. 11 Jefferson Area on Friday at Bernie Hovan Field in Macedonia for the district championship.

Rootstown 4, Columbiana 2

COLUMBIANA — Trailing by 2 in the sixth inning when play was suspended on Friday due to rain, Columbiana couldn’t muster a rally when the game resumed on Tuesday as Rootstown advanced with a 4-2 win in a Div. VI sectional contest at Firestone Park.

No. 19 seed Rootstown will head to No. 5 Hillsdale today for a district semifinal. The No. 17 seed Clippers end the season at 11-16.

For the Clippers, Avery Young had two doubles, while Drennen Bosela added a single, double and an RBI.

Ethan Lehnerd was the losing pitcher with four walks and no strikeouts in four innings.

Mogadore 9, East Palestine 1

UNITY — No. 22 seed East Palestine had a one-run lead after the first inning but it didn’t hold up as No. 24 seed Mogadore beat the Bulldogs 9-1 on Tuesday in a Div. VI sectional contest at Ace of Diamonds.

The Bulldogs end the season at 10-12, while Mogadore will travel to No. 1 Lake Center Christian for a district semifinal today.

Clark Rutledge had two hits and a run for the Bulldogs. Luke Kinkead added a hit and RBI.

Kealin Simon was the losing pitcher with three walks and two strikeouts in six innings.
