Quakers rally by West Branch

Salem 5, West Branch 2

SALEM — Salem scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and rallied past West Branch, 5-2, Tuesday.

Cameron Martin and Braydon Van Dyne doubled and Bairon Exline and Jack Andres singled to highlight the Quakers’ sixth-inning rally.

Salem improves to 2-15, while West Branch falls to 5-11. Both teams are 1-8 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference.

Jaxon Douglas got the win, giving up one hit in 2/3 of an inning. Ben Kuboff started and went 5 2/3 innings and Braydon Van Dyne went the final 2/3 of an inning. They combined for 10 strikeouts.

Exline scored two runs for the Quakers.

Jeremiah Thomas doubled, singled and scored a run for the Warriors.

Beaver Local 12, United 2

CALCUTTA — Paxton Grimes tossed a two-hitter and shut down United, 12-2, in six innings Tuesday.

Beaver Local improves to 13-9 and will host St. Clairsville today.

United drops to 12-6 and will play at Columbiana today with the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference title on the line.

The Beavers scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for the victory.

Aiden Dray went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and Tysen Hammonds was 3-for-4 with two runs scored for the Beavers.

Peyton Martin had two hits, three RBIs and two runs. Jett Johnson doubled, singled and drove in two runs. AJ Bowser had two hits, including a double.

Carter Simmons took the loss, giving up 11 runs, eight earned, on 13 hits with two strikeouts and four walks in 5 1/3 innings.

Quentin Taylor singled, drove in a run and scored another for the Eagles. Mason Everly also singled.

Heartland 11, Southern 1

SALINEVILLE — Heartland Christian scored in the final six innings Tuesday for a 10-1 win over Southern Local.

Hudson Miller drove in four runs and Jacob Goehring and Paul Bender each scored three times. Goehring also singled twice and drove in two runs. Brennan Murphy tripled. Evan Farrell and Jack Morgan both doubled.

Conrad Bender was the winning pitcher, giving up one run on four hits in four innings. He struck out three and walked one.

Christian Hamilton went three shutout innings, allowing one hit with seven strikeouts.

Heartland improves to 8-9 heading into today’s game at Western Reserve.

Jack Pitts had two hits for the Indians. T.J. Homan added an RBI double.

Southern is 3-10 and will host St. Thomas Aquinas today.

LaBrae 15, Crestview 1

COLUMBIANA — Austin Rowe, Colton Hall and John Kinkade combined on a four-hitter as LaBrae downed Crestview, 15-1, in five innings Tuesday.

Crestview — which totaled one run on five hits over 12 innings against LaBrae in consecutive games — drops to 12-6 overall and 6-5 in the MVAC Grey Tier.

LaBrae is 11-4 and leads the league with a 9-1 mark.

Lucas Glover went 3-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs for the Vikings. Austin Rowe also had two hits. Eric Reibold and Landon Brunstetter both scored three runs.

Eli Cope topped the Rebels with two hits and scored their lone run.

Crestview will host Springfield today.
