United tunes up for district

YOUNGSTOWN — Josie Wargo’s RBI double in the seventh inning secured United’s 7-6 win over Southeast in a regular season tune-up on Saturday in softball action at Youngstown State University.
The Eagles moved to 18-6 and will travel to Mineral Ridge today for a Div. VI district semifinal.
Madison Aegerter helped the United cause with two doubles and two RBIs as well as being the winning pitcher with three strikeouts and a walk in seven innings.
Miley Pitts added a double and RBI.

BASEBALL
West Branch 8. Field 5
BELOIT — Jeremiah Thomas had a single and double, while Drake Stryffeler added a triple and an RBI in West Branch’s 8-5 win over Field on Saturday.
Grayden Grimm added a hit and two RBIs. Grady Close also had a single and double with an RBI. Evan Springer was the winning pitcher with four strikeouts and five walks in three innings.
West Branch (9-13) hosts Columbiana on Monday.

Struthers 14, Salem 6
STRUTHERS — Salem’s baseball team suffered a 14-6 setback to Struthers on Saturday at Cene Park.
Vinny Yannucci led the Quakers with a double. Salem’s pitchers walked 12 total. Malachi Kearns was the losing pitcher with three walks and a strikeout in an inning.
Salem (2-20) is at Marlington on Thursday.
