West Branch wins a thriller
BELOIT — Carter Thrasher was walked with bases loaded and nobody out in the bottom of the seventh to drive in Grady Close as West Branch edged Pepper Pike Orange 1-0 in a Div. IV sectional baseball game on Thursday.
Carson Wike had two of West Branch’s five hits.
Jeremiah Thomas was strong with eight strikeouts and two walks over seven innings. Thomas threw 103 pitches with 66 for strikes.
19th seeded West Branch (12-13) will travel to No. 3 seed Norton at 5 p.m. on Tuesday in a district semifinal. Norton was a 3-0 winner over No. 21 seed Struthers on Tuesday.

Heartland 13, Southern 0
UNITY — Heartland’s Evan Farrell threw a perfect game as the Lions knocked
off Southern Local 13-0 in a Div. VII sectional baseball tournament game on Thursday at Ace of Diamonds.
Farrell threw 51 pitches with 40 for strikes. He struck out six and walked none.
Jacob Goehring had a strong day at the plate with a double and triple with an RBI. Paul Bender had a single, double and an RBI. Farrell had two RBIs. Jack Morgan had two hits as well.
Mason Pitts took the loss for Heartland as he walked four over two innings.
Ninth-seeded Heartland (11-13) will host 13th seed Bristol at 5 p.m. on Wednesday in a district semifinal.
Southern is 5-13.

United 9, Manchester 4
HANOVERTON — Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference champion United got three hits and two RBIs from Kadin Schonauer in a 9-4 win over Akron Manchester in a Div. V sectional contest.
The ninth-seeded Eagles also got three hits and two RBIs from Wyatt Swanson in the win. Cavan Jackson and Quentin Taylor had a single and double each.
Schonauer was strong on the mound with six strikeouts and four walks in seven innings. He gave up zero earned runs.
United (17-6) awaits the winner of today’s matchup between No. 10 seed Crestview and No. 17 Beachwood. If Crestview wins the Rebels will host on Wednesday. If Beachwood wins, United will host on Wednesday.

Marlington 3, Salem 2
MARLINGTON — Salem carried a two-run lead into the fifth inning, but Marlington rallied back to score a 3-2 win in a Div. IV sectional baseball game on Thursday.
Collin Baier scored on a wild pitch with no outs and bases loaded in the seventh to give the Dukes the win.
Bairon Exline had two hits and an RBI for the Quakers. Ben Kuboff added two hits including a double. Cameron Martin had two hits as well. Jaxson Douglas had a double.
Brady Hendricks took the loss for the 33rd seed Quakers (2-21). He had three walks and two strikeouts over six innings.
No. 9 Marlington will host No. 18 seed Streetsboro in the district semifinal on Tuesday.

COLUMBIANA 10, LOWELLVILLE 0
COLUMBIANA — Sam Inboden and Drennen Bosela combined on a no-hitter in Columbiana’s 10-0 win over Lowellville on Thursday in regular season action.
Inboden had five walks and six strikeouts over four innings. Bosela added an inning with two strikeouts and a walk.
Ayden Dennison had three doubles and an RBI for Columbiana.
The Clippers are scheduled to host Rootstown today in a tournament game, weather pending.
