SALEM — The Salem Athletic Boosters Club dedicated its golf outing on June to the memory of Salem’s late superintendent Sean Kirkland.

Kirkland ran the SABC golf outing for eight years before handing it off in 2024.

To honor Kirkland, the club put a sign on the 15th tee box for all golfers and volunteers to put their signature no. It was then presented to Cindy Kirkland after the round. The club will donate a portion of the proceeds to a Salem High School Alumni Association fund in memory of Sean.

The booster club made more than $15,000 from this fundraiser. The Salem Lady Quakers team of Darren Weingart, girls basketball coach Matt Mowery, Andy Clutter and Nate Mullen won the first prize of $1,000.

The next fundraiser will be a corn hole tournament on Oct. 17 at the Saxon Club.
