Canfield blanks Salem

SALEM -- Nick Atsas and Collin Casey scored goals in the opening nine minutes as Canfield blanked Salem, 5-0, in Tuesday’s boys soccer season opener at Sebo Stadium.

The Cardinals led 3-0 at halftime.

BEAVER 8, CAMBRIDGE 0

CALCUTTA -- Junior Peyton Dunn and the Beaver Local girls soccer team provided fireworks in the 2026 season opener Tuesday.

Dunn scored four goals, including the 100th of her career, and had two assists as the Beavers blanked Cambridge, 8-0, at Pastore Field.

Sophomore Leah Stewart also collected four goals and two assists to round out the scoring.

Dunn and Stewart guided Beaver Local to the Division IV state semifinals last season.

The Beavers led 3-0 at halftime with Dunn scoring twice. She scored her 100th goal in the second half.

Riley Springer, Alexis Lasure and Jansen Ours also had assists.

Beaver Local will host Harrison Central on Thursday.

UNITED 7, BRISTOL 1

HANOVERTON -- Jude Andrea and Gavin Coffee each had two goals and one assist in leading the United boys soccer team past Bristol, 7-1, Monday.

Also scoring goals were Zach Blake, Ziggy Williams, and Stephen Sutliff. Blake also contributing an assist.

Aiden Gundersen recorded 9 saves in goal for the Eagles.

Lawrence Workman scored Bristol’s lone goal.

The Eagles (1-1) will host Liberty at 6 p.m. Monday.
