Colian nets five goals for Warriors

BELOIT -- West Branch sophomore Elli Colian tied a school record with five goals in an 8-0 win over Marlington on Wednesday.

West Branch improves to 9-0 overall and 2-0 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference. They will play at Ursuline on Monday.

Caiden Schroeder contributed one goal and one assist. Alinee Bacconi and Cambrie Nezbeth also scored goals. Ellie Tucker had three assists and Iris Nezbeth one assists.

Audrey Eaton and Nanna Burchardt each made one save in the Warriors’ seventh shutout of the season.

West Branch also won the junior varsity match, 5-0.

Carleigh Sanor had two goals and one assist and Iris Nezbeth two goals for the Warriors. Addison Lee also had one goal and one assist. Addison Miller collected an assist.

BEAVER 5, UNITED 1

CALCUTTA -- Beaver Local handed United its first loss of the season, 5-1, in girls soccer action Wednesday.

Leah Stewart and Peyton Dunn each scored goals in both the first and second half. Stewart also had two assists. Alexis Lasure rounded out the scoring for the Beavers. Tatum Duncan made eight saves in goal.

Maddy Figley scored United’s goal on a penalty shot with four minutes remaining.

The Beavers improve to 8-1, while the Eagles move to 8-1-1.

COLUMBIANA 9, EDISON 1

COLUMBIANA -- The Columbiana girls soccer team pulled away from Edison for a 9-1 win Wednesday.

The Clippers (5-2-1) will play at Newton Falls on Saturday.

The Wildcats (3-5) will travel to Oak Glen today.

CHAMPION 3, CRESTVIEW 1

COLUMBIANA -- Champion snapped Crestview’s string of five straight shutouts with a 3-1 win in boys soccer action Wednesday.

Champion improves to 5-0-2, while Crestview drops to 9-2.

After a scoreless first half, Crestview scored on an own goal to tie the match at 1-1. Champion scored its third goal in the final 30 seconds.
