Rebels still dangerous in MVAC

BROOKFIELD -- Crestview improved to 9-0 in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Gray Tier after downing Brookfield 25-16, 25-21, 25-12, Monday.

The Rebels are 12-2 overall. Brookfield drops to 6-8 and 4-4 in league play.

Bella Ciapala had 14 kills and 11 digs and Sophia Noling 10 kills and nine digs for the Rebels. Sarah HIvely had seven kills and nine digs, Phiatra Bradley five kills and three blocks, Kerrigan Miller two aces and 22 digs, Addison Finch two aces and 10 digs, Cam Davidson 17 assists and Addy Wendell 13 assists.

Crestview also won the junior varsity match, 25-22, 25-13. The Rebels were led by Claire Crable with three aces and 21 assists and Jewlnetta Bradley with eight kills.h teams play today with Crestview hosting Ravenna Southeast and Brookfield visiting Liberty.

SOUTH RANGE 3, UNITED 0

GREENFORD -- State-ranked South Range remained unbeaten by sweeping United, 25-9, 25-18, 25-18, Monday.

The Raiders, ranked fifth in the Division V state poll, improve to 18-0 overall. The Eagles lost for the first time in eight matches as they move to 11-3.

Lily Weaver totaled 12 kills, 14 digs and two blocks for the Raiders. Parker Zwingler had three aces, 15 assists and 12 digsNatalie Burnett 15 assists and six digs and Haylie John four aces and 11 digs.

United led in every game, including 18-17 in both the second and third games, but South Range finished strong in each one.

Lily Erb had nine service points and two aces and Rileah Phillips eight points and three aces for the Eagles. Baylee Smith had 13 digs.

United won the junior varsity match, 22-25, 25-18, 25-24.

For the Eagles, Aubrey Danko had 11 points, two aces, four kills and 10 digs and Gracelyn Simmons had three points, two aces, eight kills and eight digs.

Both teams play today as United hosts Wellsville and South Range entertains Girard.

EAST PALESTINE 3, LIBERTY 1

LIBERTY -- East Palestine improved to 11-5 with a 25-17, 18-25, 25-21, 25-21 win over Liberty on Monday.

The Bulldogs were led by Destiney Burtyk with 14 kills, two blocks and eight digs; Marley Blythe 14 points, seven kills and 13 digs; Kennedy Andre 30 assists, nine digs and eight points; Emma Gingher eight kills and five digs; and Madilyn Zimmerman 13 digs.

East Palestine also won the junior varsity match, 25-18, 25-16. For the Bulldogs, Aliviana Valingo had six kills and three digs, Aubrey Oltmann six kills and two digs, Layla Grubert 13 assists and three aces and Saydee Artrup seven points and two aces

East Palestine will host Southern today.

OAK GLEN 3, EAST PALESTINE 0

NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. -- Oak Glen handled East Palestine, 25-13, 25-13, 25-18, Saturday.

For East Palestine, Marley Blythe had seven kills, eight digs and four points; Destiney Burtyk five kills, six digs and four blocks; Cadence Vargo six digs and three kills; and Kennedy Andre 12 assists, two kills and four digs.

Oak Glen also won the junior varsity match, 25-13, 25-6. For the Bulldogs, Aubrey Oltmann had four points, two aces and four digs, Aliviana Valingo four kills and four digs and Layla Grubert four assists and five digs.
