Purple Raiders bounce back big

NEW CONCORD -- No. 24 Mount Union rolled to its first Ohio Athletic Conference win of the season Saturday, setting a school record with 786 total yards in a 65-7 rout of Muskingum.

The Purple Raiders (2-2, 1-1 OAC) averaged 9.2 yards per play and finished with 422 rushing yards, averaging 9.2 yards per carry.

Freshman Bo Bokman rushed for a career-high 137 yards and three touchdowns, his second straight 100-yard game. Junior Kayden Minner added 113 yards and two touchdowns for his fifth career 100-yard game. It marked the first time Mount Union had two 100-yard rushers in the same game since last season against Wilmington.

Quarterback Mikey Maloney threw for 350 yards and three touchdowns, his fifth career 300-yard passing game. Mason Ashby had a game-high nine receptions for a career-best 112 yards and a touchdown, giving him three straight 100-yard receiving games.

Jordan Johnson added 80 yards and a touchdown on seven carries, including a 57-yard run. Ezra Jones rushed for a career-high 72 yards on eight carries. O.P. Knox had a career-high 81 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Mount Union led 35-13 in first downs and held Muskingum to 262 total yards, including just 64 rushing. Jace Radford led the Raiders with a career-high seven tackles. Zack Liebler and Dallas Richardson each had an interception, with Richardson recording a team-high three tackles.

The Raiders had 467 total yards at halftime and averaged 9.7 yards per play before the break. Muskingum (0-4, 0-3) avoided the shutout with a touchdown in the final two minutes.

Mount Union hosts Marietta in its homecoming game Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Kehres Stadium.
