Salem runners excel at Star Trax event

SALEM — The Salem cross country program’s present and future were showcased Saturday at the 33rd annual Star Trax 5K Night Run. Salem senior Luke Stephens topped the 369-runner field, covering the 3.1-mile race in 16 minutes, 52 seconds. Beaver Local senior Luke Warrick was second. Driving his brother Dave's 410 sprint car, Dale Blaney captured the 18th annual Lou Blaney Memorial, held in honor of the Blaney's father. CLEVELAND — Cleveland's new WNBA franchise might not have announced its name just yet, but a strong hint appeared Friday on Edgewater Beach. A sand sculpture with the words "HEAR THE CALL" plus what appears to be a light blue and white WNBA basketball showed up on the beach ahead of the Sand Fest event scheduled for Saturday.
