Redfern turns in another strong performance

COLUMBIANA — The new cross country course at the Ward Athletic Complex suits former Southern Local standout Logan Redfern. Redfern won his third straight race in the Clipper Cross Country Series on Wednesday night. The rain held off as Redfern topped the 105-runner field, covering the 1.8-mile course in 9 minutes, 50 seconds. Malvern High School senior Emma Maher was the top female finisher in 12:32. Salem golfers fall to Minerva

SALEM — Minerva defeated Salem 164-184 in a boys golf match Tuesday at Salem Hills. Gabe Leek and Caden Arcuri each shot 45 to lead the Quakers. Eli James carded a 46 and Donald Blackburn added a 48. Minerva was led by Tyson Fetty and William Blackburn, who shared medalist honors with rounds of 40. Benjamin Smith and Hudson Peterson each finished with 42. Salem is 1-1 in league play.
