YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State is ranked No. 3 in the first FCS Committee Rankings released this season, the highest ranking in program history. The Penguins are 6-2 overall and 4-1 in Missouri Valley Football Conference play. They head into a bye week before hosting No. 6 North Dakota on Oct. 31 at Stambaugh Stadium. BELOIT — It appears that a new football-only league will try to get off the ground to serve area teams left out in the most recent league shake-ups. The West Branch Board of Education approved by a 5-0 vote on Monday that the Warriors would join a yet-to-be-named league to begin play in the 2028-29 school year. The Warriors would join Crestview, Salem, Alliance, Howland and Canton Central Catholic pending approval from the other schools involved.
