Free track meet for kids SALEM — The Salem Youth Track and Field Club is hosting a free track meet at 5 p.m. April 23 at Sebo Stadium. Featured events include shot put, long jump, sprints and a distance race, with students competing by grade level. All kids in pre-K through 6th grade are welcome to participate even if they have not attended previous sessions. Quakers come up just shy

MINERVA — Minerva senior Braydon Wood hit his first high school home run and the first by the Lions this season and Kaden Kandel had a two-run single in the fifth inning to drive in the winning run in a 4-3 decision over Salem on Tuesday. Kandel went 2-for-3 and Lane Tarbet pitched 2 1/3 shutout innings to earn the victory. He allowed one hit with one strikeout and one walk.
