MINERVA — Minerva made its hits count Thursday. A day after being one-hit in an 8-0 loss at West Branch, Minerva bounced back with a 4-2 win over the Warriors. Each team scored one earned run. Brennan Barnes led the Lions with a double, an RBI and a run. Lane Tarbet and Parker Linkous each had a single and a run. Kolton Almasy also scored a run. SALEM — Minerva built a five-run lead in the third inning and held on for an 8-2 win over Salem on Thursday in Eastern Buckeye Conference play. Salem’s three hits were all singles. Emilee Lewis took the loss for same with five strikeouts and five walks in four innings. Delaney Sell was the winning pitcher with 13 strikeouts and a walk across seven innings. Emilee Lewis and Mikayla Sneltzer each scored three runs to put the Quakers on their way to a 19-6 win over Warren Harding in five innings Wednesday. Morgan Colian hit a double and drove in three runs. Aniya Jones and Lacie Gainor each had two hits Morgane Blaine and Shae Burkhart collected doubles. Alliance 12, Salem 11 SALEM — Salem rallied from a six-run deficit in the fifth inning to force extra innings before falling to Alliance, 12-11, in eight innings Wednesday. Alliance improves to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference, while the Quakers drop to 1-4 and 0-2. Salem has scored 36 runs over its last four games.
