SALEM - Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) welcomes fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon David Prior, M.D., FAAOS, to its medical staff. Prior joins Dr. J. Cletus Paumier, Dr. Dominic Peters and Dr. Lee Simon at Salem Orthopaedic Surgery.
Prior brings extensive training and experience in most minimally-invasive and reconstructive spine procedures. His areas of expertise include back and neck pain; degenerative disc disease; herniated disc; spine fractures; minimally-invasive surgery; revision spine surgery; reconstructive procedures; scoliosis; thoracic and lumbar disease; spinal stenosis; spinal tumors; and most trauma-related spine conditions.
"Back pain is extremely common, affecting up to 80 percent of Americans at some point in their lives and limiting their daily activities," Prior said. "My goal as a spine surgeon is to help those suffering from back and neck problems by relieving their pain and restoring their quality of life though the latest medical and surgical treatments, including minimally-invasive techniques."
A graduate of Michigan State University, Prior received his Medical Degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He went on to complete his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at the prestigious Western Michigan University School of Medicine and his Spine Surgery Fellowship training at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California.
Before joining SRMC's medical staff, Prior served as an orthopaedic spine surgeon at the Spine & Orthopaedic Center in South Florida.
Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Prior is a Fellow of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has written, researched and presented on a variety of orthopedic topics. His professional memberships include the North America Spine Society and American Medical Association.
