Evacuation ordered for gas leak near Crestview Schools

COLUMBIANA – A 1-mile emergency evacuation was ordered in Fairfield Township Tuesday afternoon following a reported gas leak.

The Columbiana County Emergency Management Agency confirmed that a gas line leak in the 4000 block of Fairfield School Road prompted a 1-mile radius evacuation from Fairfield School Road to just north of state Route 517. The evacuation zone also included areas north and south of Woodvale Lane, just north of Crestview School Road, and westbound Lower Elkton Road to state Route 558, just west of Crestview High School.

A shelter has been put into place at Crestview Elementary located at 3407 Middleton Road in Columbiana for affected residents.

Hill Corp is continuing to assess the situation.

Residents located inside the evacuation zone needing assistance are instructed to call 330-482-9292.

Traffic is asked to avoid Fairfield School Road between Crestview Road and state Route 558.
