Knicks fans living it up

NEW YORK (AP) — Jalen Brunson was wowed upon hearing how high the price of the cheapest ticket in New York for Game 3 of the NBA Finals series between the Knicks and Spurs had climbed on the secondary market. What left the Knicks star nearly stumped was determining what he would deem worthy of spending $7,500 to go see. "That's a good question," Brunson said Thursday. He paused for a few seconds before delivering his answer: "A live Michael Jackson performance." Thriller, indeed. From Bay Ridge to the Bronx and beyond, the Big Apple has gone nuts for the Knicks. The team is ...

Researchers put a number on how much debt U.S. can carry

The United States has about 20 years to change course on its national debt before it reaches the estimated limits of its debt capacity, according to new research from the Penn Wharton Budget Model. Researchers estimate the outer limit of U.S. debt capacity at about 210% of gross domestic product. At that point, even a 100% tax on labor income would not generate enough revenue to cover interest costs, making the debt impossible to stabilize through labor-tax increases alone. Waiting until that threshold is reached would carry a steep cost. According to the model, stabilizing the debt ...

Verse doesn’t want to fill Garrett’s shoes

BEREA — Anyone expecting Jared Verse to be the next Myles Garrett after Monday's blockbuster trade between the Cleveland Browns and Los Angeles Rams are already going to be disappointed. For one, Verse can't literally step into Garrett's shoes. "Myles he's a size 13, Nikes, whatever they are. I'm a size 13½, size 14 Jordans. I'm not here to fill his shoes. I'm here to bring my own," Verse said on Wednesday after taking part in his first practice with the Browns. Verse said he has watched plenty of film of Garrett and keyed in on a couple of things he does. But he has taken some ...

Angel repeats Canseco’s Municipal Stadium gaffe

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Earlier this season, Los Angeles Angels right fielder Jo Adell had an incredible night to remember on defense, when he robbed the Seattle Mariners of three home runs. This time, he was on the wrong end of a play to forget. Adell misplayed a flyball into a bizarre home run off his head Tuesday, a fielding blunder reminiscent of José Canseco's embarrassing gaffe 33 years ago with the Texas Rangers. Adell reached up to catch TJ Rumfield's deep fly for the Colorado Rockies in the fourth inning, but the ball grazed the outside of his glove before bouncing off ...

proves war powers resolution to halt military action against Iran, in a rebuke of Trump

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House for the first time Wednesday approved a war powers resolution that would halt the U.S. military action against Iran, defying President Donald Trump as a handful of Republicans joined with Democrats to end the three-month-long conflict that has reordered politics at home and abroad. House Speaker Mike Johnson had tried to prevent an outcome that would show the mounting opposition to the war, abruptly shutting down floor action two weeks ago when the resolution was on the verge of approval. But displeasure has only grown as the conflict drags on and as Trump ...
