Leetonia parent charged for threat to bomb school
LEETONIA — A school parent district faces criminal charges, after allegedly threatening to bomb Leetonia High School.
Erin McGuire, 36, Leetonia, had yelled the threats, peppered with profanity, sometime after 7 p.m outside the school at two passing juveniles unloading from a school bus and then left the scene.
She is being charged with making terrorist threats, which is filed as a first-degree felony and carries a maximum penalty of 11 years in prison and a fine of $20,000.
During the police investigation, Chief Alan Haueter said a school employee revealed McGuire had messaged school officials complaining about bus routes around the time of offense.
District Superintendent Tony DelBoccio had announced prior to the return from holiday break that bus routes would need to be combined starting Jan. 5 due to driver shortages.
According to Haueter, McGuire had been vocal about her dissatisfaction with the district transportation department, especially since her children had been forgotten to be picked up and also missed the bus in recent days due to the schedule allegedly not being consistent with times.
When later confronted by police, McGuire gave a full confession, per Haueter, and was booked after giving a complete statement.
She currently is held without bond, awaiting video arraignment this morning in Columbiana County Municipal Court.
