YOUNGSTOWN — In the ongoing saga over a new home for the Mahoning County Board of Elections, county commissioners wrote a letter stating under Ohio law it is the board’s responsibility to select a building and the commissioners’ job to review the cost. Port authority gets funding for improvements to downtowns

LISBON — A program aimed at making Columbiana County’s seven walkable downtowns more vibrant just received $250,000 in funding for building owners to improve building usability and businesses to improve their signage. Crestview updates athletic facility rental fees

COLUMBIANA — The Crestview School District has updated it’s athletic facility use rental fees. District Superintendent Dan Hill said the updates are minimal, however, and comparable to prior years. The district has continued to upgrade the new athletic facility, with new batting cages added in the last several weeks. Updated rental fees for all athletic facilities include the elementary and middle school gymnasiums, baseball and softball fields, and grass soccer game and practice fields. Former Braking Point owner gets probation

YOUNGSTOWN — The former owner of a local rehab facility will serve probation for felony domestic violence. An announcement from the Mahoning County Prosecutor’s Office states that Mahoning County Common Pleas Court Judge Maureen Sweeney on Monday sentenced Ryan Sheridan, 45, to three years of probation. On Thursday, Sheridan entered guilty pleas to attempted abduction and domestic violence, as fourth-degree felonies, amended down from the original third-degree felony charges of abduction and domestic violence.
