Salem man accused of sex crimes involving children found competent

LISBON — A Salem man charged with rape and multiple other sex-related acts involving two children over multiple years was declared competent to stand trial. Mark E. Knight, 58, North Ellsworth Avenue, appeared in a wheelchair in the custody of a deputy for the hearing Monday before Columbiana County Common Pleas Court Judge Megan Bickerton. Multiple departments respond to Perry Township house fire

PERRY TOWNSHIP — Multiple fire departments responded to a fire at a Perry Township residence Thursday. According to the Salem Fire Department’s report, the Salem department responded to a structure fire at 419 Benton Road at 12:50 p.m. Thursday to provide automatic aid to the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department.
