Fair board pleased with attendance

CANFIELD — Attendance at this year’s Canfield Fair fell below 2025 figures, but not by much. Fair officials reported the 2026 attendance for the six days of the fair at 264,538. The five-year average is 267,615, making this year only 1.16% below that average. The opening-day attendance on Wednesday was 20,554. Fair officials said it was the lowest since 2021 when only 17,549 people came through the gates. Last year’s Wednesday total was 27,916. SALEM — Salem first responders were called to West 12th Street after a resident discovered a potential undetonated ordnance Wednesday. “They immediately called the bomb squad and were able to send them some photos of it. [The bomb squad] knew what it was and said ‘yeah, we’d better come get it’” Police Chief J.T. Panezott said. County commissioners tout scrap tire drive at fairgrounds

LISBON — An Ohio Scrap Tire Collection Day will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Sept. 19 at the Columbiana County Fairgrounds. Free to residents, the scrap tire collection event is sponsored by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and the CCH Solid Waste District.
