Salem Quakerfest set for Saturday

SALEM — Quakerfest returns to Salem Saturday. The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce, local businesses and community organizations are coming together to offer a day of fun for everyone from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The festivities will extend across the entire downtown area with giveaways, activities for children, live music and special sales. Salem utilities department invites community to open house

SALEM — The utilities department is inviting the public to learn about the upgrades which have been made to the city’s wastewater treatment plant during an upcoming open house. During the utilities commission’s September meeting, the commissioners announced that the department will host an open house at the wastewater treatment plant at 4 p.m. Oct. 15 following the commission’s next meeting. Engineering to begin on Columbiana traffic signals update

COLUMBIANA — Engineering is expected to begin this fall for the traffic signal upgrades at the state Routes 14, 46 and 146 intersection. Columbiana City Council approved an agreement on Sept. 15 with the Ohio Department of Transportation to do the project. ODOT announced last year that it was awarding $1.45 million in funding for the traffic signal upgrades through the Small Cities Program. NEW WATERFORD — The village is taking bids to begin contracting with a single garbage hauler for residential service.
