County commissioners declare August As Child Support Awareness Month

United Local School District seeking input to help develop a capital improvement plan

HANOVERTON — A Capital Improvement Building Plan is being developed by the United Local School District and the district is gathering input from staff members in addition to seeking outside input from local organizations. Beaver Valley Power Station transitioning to new alert system

By the beginning of 2027, residents of the Tri-State Area will have a new way to receive alerts for tests and emergencies at the Beaver Valley Nuclear Power Station. “We’ll be updating our warning systems,” Jennie Steifel, off-site emergency preparedness specialist for the station, explained while appearing before Hancock County commissioners during their meeting Friday morning. County engineer’s office still look for salt solution for the winter

LISBON — Columbiana County Engineer Bert Dawson said his department is still working on a salt issue after receiving no bids for sodium chloride rock salt for the upcoming winter. The bid opening was set for Aug. 5, but instead of bids, the department received three letters from companies who had been invited to bid, all saying they were unable to submit bids, including Morton Salt, Cargill and Compass Minerals.
