SALEM (WKBN) — The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down in Salem last night. Residents across Columbiana County are left picking up the pieces of last night’s severe weather. Kleis Equipment mechanic Dan Recker recalls his morning when he realized a tornado barreled through. “I got some sleep, came to work, and half the building’s up against the trees in the woods,” Recker said. County health district receives mosquito grant

LISBON — The Columbiana County Health District recently received a $20,000 mosquito grant from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. Plans call for using half to host a tire collection event later this year and half for education, mosquito dunks, which can be used to kill mosquito larvae in standing water, and screen repair kits, according to district Environmental Director and Public Information Officer Laura Fauss. “We’re excited about that,” she said. 2 tornadoes confirmed in Columbiana County

(WKBN) — The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh toured damage in two areas on Monday following severe weather that rolled through the Valley on Sunday afternoon. Survey results concluded that three tornadoes touched down. Two of those tornadoes occurred in Columbiana County. One of these was in Salem, and the other formed later along the path closer to the Ohio/Pennsylvania border. LISBON — Some Lisbon teens want a skate park in Lisbon and recently asked village council to consider the idea. Brody McCreight and his father Jeremy both addressed council and were accompanied by six other skateboarders during the meeting, with Brody saying it could be small with just a couple of ramps and other features.
