Goshen Township receives grant to repave part of Duck Creek Road

GOSHEN TOWNSHIP — A portion of Duck Creek Road will be repaved next year thanks to a nearly $200,000 grant. Fiscal Officer Michele Barratt announced that Goshen Township had been selected to receive a $196,090 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) during the board of trustees meeting Tuesday. Leetonia to celebrate grand opening of restrooms at splash pad

LEETONIA — The village of Leetonia will be celebrating the grand opening of the new restrooms at the Wurster Memorial Splash Pad with an evening of family fun Friday. The event promises a full night of free activities for children from 5 to 8 p.m. The event will feature a large bounce house, music and free food for attendees. Appeal filed of vicious designation for second dog involved in attack

LISBON — The owner of the second dog accused of attacking and seriously injuring a woman on May 15 at Lake Tomahawk recently filed an appeal to challenge the vicious dog designation against her dog, Beau, with a hearing set for 2 p.m. June 15 in Columbiana County Municipal Court. Laurel Brothers, Youngstown, filed the complaint through her attorneys Chris Amato and Frank Williams against the Columbiana County Dog Warden Heidi Wallace. Another status hearing set in 2021 murder case

LISBON — Another status hearing is now set for 11:30 a.m. Aug. 6 in the aggravated murder case against Curtis D. Holland, the man identified by prosecutors as the other shooter allegedly involved in the 2021 murder of Brycen Douglas. Holland, 30, Dewey Avenue, East Liverpool, appeared in the custody of deputies during a status hearing Wednesday in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court before Judge Scott Washam. New judge assigned to wrongful death suit against county, sheriff’s officials

LISBON — A new visiting judge has been assigned to oversee the wrongful death lawsuit filed against Columbiana County, the sheriff and one deputy over a fatal crash in 2023 involving the pursuit of a driver in a stolen vehicle which hit another vehicle. Retired Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Andrew D. Logan was recently appointed to the case by the Ohio Supreme Court after retired Wayne County Common Pleas Court Judge Mark Wiest said he no longer wished to continue as the assigned judge.
