WARREN–Rachel Lindesmith of Hanoverton was named Mahoning Valley’s “Distinguished Female” Engineer of the Year 2019 hosted by the Tech Belt Energy Innovation Center (TBEIC) in partnership with the Valley Alliance for Science and Technology (VAST) at its second annual awards banquet held earlier this month.
TBEIC is a federally funded business incubator aimed at growing energy technologies while VAST is a member-driven organization created to foster an environment of technology innovation, application and growth in the Mahoning Valley and surrounding area.
The “Distinguished Female” Engineer of the Year Award was broken down into four unique judging criteria, in which TBEIC and VAST believe the finest engineers embody: Leadership; Awards and Honors; Community Service & Philanthropic Activity; and Engineering or Technical Projects. Lindesmith is currently the general supervisor of Engineering Services at Ohio Edison & Penn Power, a FirstEnergy Company. She has a BS in Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and a MBA from Kent State University.
