Benefit spaghetti dinner
SALEM — “Jeffrey’s Journey” is a free-to-attend benefit dinner being held from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19.
The fundraiser will be held at the Salem/Lisbon KOA, located as 33815 Winona Road. Cost is donation only.
Proceeds will benefit “Jeffrey’s Journey.” Jeffrey is a 4-year-old non-verbal autistic child who was recently diagnosed with pancreatitis. He has been hospitalized four times this year with severe pain, each stay averaging five days. All efforts of less-invasive treatments have failed, resulting in the tail of his pancreas being dead. Surgery is required and will be held on Nov. 9 to remove his spleen, pancreas and gallbladder. This surgery will result in a 2-month stay in Cincinnati, but also require Jeffrey to become a type 1 diabetic. This will conflict poorly with his autism diagnosis, as the insulin pump will interfere with his sensory challenges.
Dinner will include spaghetti with meatballs, bread, salad and dessert. A Chinese Auction willl be held. Tickets will be priced at $1 each or six for $5. For information or to a make a non-monetarydonation email jeffreysjourney@yahoo.com.
Donations can be made at Cota.org/Cotaforjeffreysjourney.
