Knights of Columbus donate for equipment at Sophia Women’s Center

Through the support of the Salem community and St. Paul Church, the Knights of Columbus Council 1818 from St. Paul Church sold 340 sandwiches, a new record, during its Sub Sandwich for Super Bowl Sunday program. The council then voted to donate $1,500 to The Sophia Women’s Center in Salem. Pictured are from left David Bedell, Grand Knight of Council 1818; Carrie Pennington, executive director of the Sophia Women’s Center; and John Staudt, financial secretary of Council 1818. The picture also includes the new ultra sound donated by the combined donations of all the Knights of Columbus Councils of Columbiana County, matched by The Knights of Columbus Supreme. This is the second ultra sound provided by The Knights of Columbus; the original device is still working but is now obsolete and therefore parts are not available if it does fail. The donation is to be used by the center as they deem necessary, including the maintenance of the original device. The other Knights of Columbus Councils in Columbiana County also donate annually to help offset the costs of operating the women’s center. (Submitted photo)
