Commissioners award first phase of Dresden Avenue manhole project

LISBON — Columbiana County commissioners on Wednesday awarded the Dresden Avenue manhole rehabilitation and replacement Phase 1 project to the lone bidder, Advanced Rehabilitation Technology. County Sanitary Engineer Bert Dawson recommended the awarding of the contract to the company headquartered in Bryan, Ohio for $408,525. Chief Deputy Sanitary Engineer Troy Graft said the project will begin within a month. The bid was higher than the funding lined up for Phase 1 of the project, so he said the contractor will just do the amount of manholes covered by the funding and the county ...

United Local receives $110K for band trip to Pearl Harbor

HANOVERTON — The United Local School District has received $110,000 in donations to help cover the cost of the band’s performance at Pearl Harbor in December. It was first announced in May of this year that the marching band would be participating in the 85th Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade on Dec. 7. At that time funds were donated by local veterans organizations in support of the trip that will honor the lives of those lost in the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941.
