SHSAA to host patriotic concert The Salem High School Alumni Association invites alumni, residents and friends of the community to attend a free concert featuring the Dave Banks Band on Wednesday, July 1, at the Salem High School auditorium. Governor rejects photo ID for mail-in voting in Ohio

A bill to require photo identification from all Ohioans who vote by mail has been vetoed by Gov. Mike DeWine. DeWine, who vetoed House Bill 472 Wednesday, said it “would not discourage fraud, would not add any real security and would create an additional and significant burden for Ohioans who vote by mail. “This bill is not needed because Ohio does an excellent job running elections. We know who wins on election night and not weeks later.” The governor also noted that requiring a photo ID for the mail-in ballot would serve as no additional verification of the voter’s true ...

Another status hearing set in charitable donations theft case

LISBON — Another status hearing has been set for 11 a.m. Aug. 14, with a trial tentatively set for Oct. 13, in the criminal case against Amanda M. Kiger and River Valley Organizing for the alleged theft of charitable donations for personal use. During a status hearing Friday, defense attorney T. Robert Bricker said he received discovery from the prosecution, calling it “very voluminous” consisting of more than 800 file folders on a flash drive.
