West Branch Area Ladies Ruritans hold July and August meetings

NORTH GEORGETOWN – The West Branch Area Ladies Ruritan Club met on July 20 for its monthly meeting and annual picnic at the North Georgetown Church of the Brethren. Members attending were Robin Mayer, Bev Yaggi, Jean Zion, Joann Pinkerton, and associate member Abby Elliott. Guests were Sandy and Duane Bates, Bob Pinkerton, Abigail Benner, Jeff and Mariana Benner - parents of Abigail - and Jackson Benner, Abigail’s brother. Undetonated ordnance located in Salem garage

SALEM — Salem first responders were called to West 12th Street after a resident discovered a potential undetonated ordnance Wednesday. “They immediately called the bomb squad and were able to send them some photos of it. [The bomb squad] knew what it was and said ‘yeah, we’d better come get it’” Police Chief J.T. Panezott said. The item was reported inside of a garage in the 100 block of West 12th Street at 5:52 p.m. Wednesday, according to a police report. Fair board pleased with attendance

CANFIELD — Attendance at this year’s Canfield Fair fell below 2025 figures, but not by much. Fair officials reported the 2026 attendance for the six days of the fair at 264,538. The five-year average is 267,615, making this year only 1.16% below that average. The opening-day attendance on Wednesday was 20,554. Fair officials said it was the lowest since 2021 when only 17,549 people came through the gates. Last year’s Wednesday total was 27,916.
