Local students recognized in international competition

INDIANAPOLIS — Several local students have been recognized at an international competition. The International Violin Competition of Indianapolis (IVCI) recently announced the 30 Streeter Hadley Matthews Grand Award Winners and 120 Regional Winners of the inaugural 2026 Juried Exhibition of Student Art (JESA). Thanks to the generosity of the Ohio-based Cynthia P. Matthews Family Foundation, the IVCI expanded the program to Ohio for the first time, building on its program in Indiana which began in 1986. New Waterford council providing property for land bank program

NEW WATERFORD — The village is giving some land to the county land bank for use in the Mow to Own program. Village Mayor Shane Patrone said this is the first time the village has done this and he said it’s an opportunity for the village to dispose of small vacant, unusable land. The 0.38 acres of vacant property is located on Silliman Street. Patrone said the acreage consists of three lots, with one against the railroad tracks and one along the creek in the village.
