Salem

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue at 11:43 a.m. Thursday to check on a suspicious vehicle near the railroad overpass. The driver was train watching while on lunch break from a local employer.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Fourth Street at 8:55 a.m. Thursday for a juvenile problem. The caller advised his girlfriend’s son ran away from home this morning before school, and that he had located the juvenile and driven him to school but wanted a report of file. Officers advised him that the juvenile officer and the school resource officer would speak with the juvenile.

— Officers responded to the 1700 block of East State Street at 7:43 a.m. Thursday for a person to be removed. Officers were advised of a man sleeping in the lobby of Burger King. Officers woke the man up and advised him of the complaint, sending him on his way.

— Officers responded to the area of Rose Avenue and East State Street at 2:28 a.m. Thursday for a reported accident with injuries. Officers located the vehicle in question against the side of a building and had the driver, who signed a refusal for treatment, evaluated by first responders. Officers spoke with the man further who advised that he was intoxicated, with an odor of an alcohol emitting from him, slurred speech and was stumbling. Officers placed the man, Kristopher Sell, 38, Salem, under arrest for OVI and transported him back to the police department for processing before giving him a ride back to his residence.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 12:20 a.m. Thursday for a report of a person shooting a firearm from a vehicle in Beloit. The caller followed the vehicle from Beloit and advised it had entered an apartment complex. Officers assisted Perry Township officers and Ohio State Highway Patrol who were also on scene, and forwarded the information to the Goshen Township Police Department where the incident took place.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of South Madison Avenue at 10:59 p.m. Wednesday for a report of an unruly juvenile. Officers spoke with the juvenile and resolved the matter.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of East State Street at 7:17 p.m. Wednesday for a report of an intoxicated man. The caller advised the man was getting a tattoo and kept falling asleep due to being intoxicated. Officers spoke with the man, finding him to be intoxicated with an alcoholic beverage in his possession. The man was given a courtesy transport back to his residence, and a warning for disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of Carole Drive at 5:54 p.m. Wednesday for a reported custody dispute. The caller advised that the incident is a civil matter and to contact the courts.

— Officers responded to the 2700 block of East State Street at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday for a speak with officer report. The caller, who is a manager at a local business, advised that they were having issues with a woman refusing to show her identification while attempting to purchase tobacco products. Officers identified the woman, who was of legal age, and advised them the business has every right to identify and refuse service to any person.

— Officers spoke to a man at the police department at 2 p.m. Wednesday that advised the tenants of his rental property have multiple junk vehicles with no plates, and a camper that someone is living in. Officers responded to the property in the 600 block of Prospect Street, locating two vehicles and the camper. The housing department was contacted to respond to the scene and spoke with the owner, advising them of the city ordinances and that the vehicles needed to be functional and registered or moved from the property.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Second Street at 1:54 p.m. Wednesday for a reported theft complaint. The caller advised that a man has been dumping trash into their business dumpster. Officers were able to contact the person and advised them to cease the dumping or charges will be brought upon them.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Fourth Street at 1:48 p.m. Wednesday for a report of dog at large. The caller advised she was able to catch and leash the dog, and officers stood by until the humane officer collected the dog.

— Officers spoke to a woman by phone at 9:46 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a possible scam. The woman advised that she had received a phone call from someone claiming to be a Medicare provider, that knew her personal information. Officers advised the woman of her options and that a police report would be made.

— The school resource officer responded to Reilly Elementary at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a male student causing an issue on the bus and in the school. Officers and school administration stood by until his behavior changed.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of Sharp Avenue at 7:35 a.m. Wednesday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised someone was putting their trash in her bin after she put it out to the curb. Officers were able to identify the person, advising them of the complaint and that she could be criminally charged if she continued.
